Credit Concerns
If you are reading this, you may be one of millions that feel
they have less than perfect credit. Well, that's part of being
human. After all, who of us is perfect?
Interestingly enough, we find many Clients have never actually
seen their mysterious credit report, and have no idea of whether or
not the information it contains is accurate. Few know their
FICO score. The truth is that your credit report is carefully
scrutinized when EVERY lender evaluates a loan application, and
impacts the rates and terms of the loans the lender offers.
At Mortgage and Lending, we stress
the importance of reviewing your credit report on a regular basis
and ensure that it is accurate - BEFORE it is needed to help get you
a loan.
How Do You Do This?
It's your report, so take responsibility - right now - for
knowing what it contains. We recommend our Clients perform an
annual "self-evaluation". Once a year, obtain a FREE
copy of your credit report at annualcreditreport.com.
| Note that
there are many other websites with similar names that appear
to offer you free reports, but if you read the fine print,
will require you to sign up for a program with a recurring
monthly service fee. We don't consider that "free".
You shouldn't, either. Make sure to use annualcreditreport.com |
If you find information on the report that is not yours,
inaccurate or wrong, follow the instructions on the site and work
with the credit bureaus to get these potential obstacles resolved as
quickly as possible. The more accurate your report, the better the
rates and terms you will be offered.
If you are confused by the report, and would like someone to help
"interpret" the information, speak with one of our
mortgage consultants. If you would like assistance in working
with the credit bureaus, ask if our Fresh
Start service is right for you. This free service for our
Clients, and we mean "free", helps put you in a better
position to get the best loan program possible.
At Mortgage and Lending, our goal is to
protect our Client from becoming a victim of predatory
lending just because they have bad credit.
Remember, we're on your side and work for YOU.
